My name is Marie Holzer and I am Four Fifty One Media. I believe clear and effective written communication is essential to making the world work. It sounds so simple, doesn’t it? But we both know it’s not.
My journey started originally way back when with my first novel attempt as a pre-teen. After winning a few amateur prizes and ribbons, I thought fiction was my future. In 2004, I started a blog on mental health and diet/exercise. I loved writing for the web and discovered I was hooked on writing to inform and entertain audiences in engaging ways.
In 2006, I took the leap and started writing as a freelancer. Within only a few months, I was sure I found my calling. I founded DMR Writing Services where I wrote on entertainment, pop culture, home and decor, as well as resumes and cover letters. In 2009, I rebranded and founded Four Fifty One Media, focusing on getting businesses in contact with their customer base through good website copy, business blogs and social networks. Four Fifty One Media also produces my pet project, Green Your Apartment.
Quite simply, I love what I do and it shows.
Values
- Honesty and integrity. You get what I promised when I promised it. One of my favorite quotes: “Truth is when word and deed become one.”
- Passion. My passions are words and people. I want to use my passions to promote your passion. Do you love doing what you do? Then I want to help you get that across in your copy so your clients feel your passion too.
- Environmental responsibility. As a freelance entrepreneur, I am in a unique position to minimize my own ecological impact, but I will also help minimize the impact of our business together with online invoicing and billing, all printed materials on recycled paper, and if you are local, I’ll probably ride up on my commuter bike instead of a car!
- Symbiosis. I want to work with businesses that hold honesty, quality and environmental responsibility with the same regard I do for mutual benefit. We both do good and earn our profit – that’s a true win-win.
Why is your company called Four Fifty One?
It is an homage to one of my favorite books, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend you do. It’s message is simple: exercise your mind. Think, dream, feel. Cherish books as a source of knowledge and never underestimate the power of the mind. This is the very reason I write and the essence of what I love so much about the written word.
